PROGENY of stallions linked directly to Oaklands Stud were keenly sought at the first QTIS 600 yearlings on the Gold Coast in March.
Resident sires Break The Vault, Ferocity and Pure Theatre and former sire Iglesia had 44 of their offspring change hands as buyers literally tripped over themselves to secure a purchase.
The 44 youngsters sold for an aggregate of $820,500 at an average of $18,647.
They sold up to $75,000 when Queenslander Daniel Saab won the bidding battle to buy the half-sister to Earnshaw from Marscay’s handy daughter Klokka.

FOUR colts and four fillies by Ferocity, the Ascot Vale Stakes winning son of Lion Hunter (Danehill USA- Pure Of Heart-Godswalk USA) averaged $26,026.50 after amassing $208,500 at the QTIS 600 sale.
Queensland buyer Daniel Saab paid the most for a Ferocity when he stopped the bidding on Klokka’s daughter at $75,000 (Lot 394)
Saab’s purchase was one of three Ferocity’s to fetch $38,000 or more. Charles Roy Bloodstock secured a filly from the multiple winner Jerash (Lot 375) for $38,000 and Russell Pastoral Company parted with $56,000 for Lot 155, a colt from Trisdiva.

NEW stallion Break The Vault made an impression at the QTIS 600 sale at the Magic Millions complex on the Gold Coast from March 28-30.
Break The Vault (Redoute’s Choice- Lady Giselle-Nureyev USA) was considered a star in the making when he raced for the John Hawkes stable. He won his first four starts, including a stakes event.
Buyers paid up to $20,000 for his progeny.
The Gollan Racing Trust was the highest bidder when it bought Temple Top’s daughter from the Eureka Thoroughbreds draft.
In all nine Break The Vault yearlings changed ownership for $94,500. The average was $10,500.

A New Zealand purchaser has taken home a yearling by Pure Theatre.
Terri Rae went to $8000 to buy the colt from Ceptor Smile by the Caulfield Guineas [placegetter Pure Theatre (Nureyev USA-A Goodlookin’ Broad USA-Broad Brush USA).
Rae was the only international buyer of the Pure Theatre stock at the sale.
Others by Pure Theatre were sold to Magic Millions as agent (lot 231) for $8000, Daniel Saab (Lot 297) for $7500 and Ross Hassam (Lot 254 ($4000).
The four Pure Theatre youngsters to sell averaged $6875 on a total outlay of $27,500.

Iglesia » more details

GROUP 1 stallion Iglesia, a former resident sire at Oaklands Stud, was not forgotten by QTIS 600 buyers on the Gold Coast.
Iglesia (Last Tycoon Ire-Yodells-Marscay) was immensely popular with his 16 yearlings selling for $362,000 for an average return of $22,625.
Iglesia, sire of G1 winner Nova Star and the highly talented stakeswinners Written Tycoon, Foolish and Diamondsonside, has buyers paying up to $40,000 for his offspring.
Gold Coast trainer Helen Page matched Noel Fuller for the highest bid.
Page bought a bay colt from But One Regret (Lot 248) while Fuller took home the Cultured Pearl colt (Lot 289).
Page underlined her liking for the Iglesia stock by buying there others. She paid $9000 for Lot 339, a filly from French Treasure, $14,000 for Honour Role’s colt (Lot 367) and $20,000 for the sister to Group 1 placegetter Tripitz from Forever Glory (Lot 335).
