FEROCITY'S SON LIVES UP TO HIS NAME IN CLASSY WIN

APPROPRIATELY named Gentle Giant claimed a timely victory in the Bruce McLachlan Classic QTIS 500 (1200 metres) at the Sunshine Coast on July 3.
Gentle Giant, a tall gelding from Ferocity’s first crop, bounded to the line to beat the Iglesia youngster Igles Star and Jopa was third
Gentle Giant, from Decent Girl, was having his sixth start when he captured his second victory.
He was well ridden by Eddie Wilkinson, who put Gentle Giant into third spot from the outset before challenging the leaders half-way down the running.
As the field passed the 200m pole, Gentle Giant swept to the lead under urgings from Wilkinson and was a clear winner on the line.
He collected $32,000 in prizemoney, which pushed his tally to $72,000 from two wins and three placings.
Gentle Giant is trained by Bruce McLachlan’s son Jason who has a high opinion of the youngster.
He thinks Gentle Giant is capable of winning far better races.
Gentle Giant’s victory was his second on end after he established a class record winning over 1100m on the Sunshine Coast cushion track on June 18 to underscore his versatility.
He was also narrowly beaten in record time over 1000 metres on May 30.
Like his father Ferocity and grand-sire Lion Hunter, Gentle Giant is a grey.
