18/05/2010

BLACK type abounds in the pedigrees of youngsters to be sold by Oaklands Stud at the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast next month.
There are relatives to winners of Group 1, 2 and 3 races and also to winners of Listed events among the draft, which oakalnds Stud will sell as agent to its clients.
The first offering is  -

Lot 1806, a bay colt by Zabeel’s winning half-brother Break The Vault.
Foaled on August 15, 2008, by the Woodman mare Parsa Parcel, the colt can trace his lineage back to Royal Ascot Coronation Cup (G1) winner Kissing Cousin. More recent generations include the likes of Passager, a five-times winner in France, among them the Group 3 Saint-Cloud Prix Perth.

Lot 1904 is a colt by the Ascot Vale Stakes (G2) winner Ferocity (Lion Hunter-Chiara-Last Tycoon Ire) from Steel Springs by Bluebird from the Gairloch mare Bourache.
Like his dad, the colt is grey in colour and has the Gold Coast Goldmarket winner Baqaba and Tasmanian Racing Club Elwick Stakes winner Fracas in the family.

Speed machine all bar One (Hennessey-Max’s Sister-Phone Trick) is the sire of Lot 1969, a natty chestnut colt from Appease, a Canny Lad mare which won over 1600m.
This colt’s great granddam Damzelle left six offspring and all were successful at the track, especially the classic winning Dodge (Queensland Derby) and Tenor (Queensland Derby).

South Australia’s Dequetteville Stakes and the Yallambee Classic are two of the best sprints run in the state and close relatives of the All Bar One-Deni hana colt (Lot 1988) featured in both.
Funster, from the colt’s winning granddam Alshandegha, ran second in the Dequetteville while Honalee, by Blue Diamond winner Hurricane Sky, won the Yallambee and also the Group 3 Standish Handicap down Flemington’s famous 1200m straight course.

Wild Heart, third as a three-year-old in the AAMI Vase, and Coraticum, a minor placegetter in the Merson Cooper for juveniles, are half-brothers to Chateau Istana’s brown colt son from Blushing Rose (Lot 2000) from Cameo Performance by the accomplished Be My Guest.

Chateau Istana, a stakes winner in Britain and then successfully transferred to Hong Kong, is also the sire of Lot 2189, a bay colt from Geiger Counter’s winning daughter Wedding Day Vibes.
Kingsgate, twice placed in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap, Charm Scene Land (Blue Diamond Prelude, G3) and Stick Around (Pinjara Millionaire’s Sires Stakes, G3) are related to the Chateau Istana colt through its great granddam Runaway Bride, by the stout influence Daring Young Man.

The Oaklands Stud draft rounds out with the All Bar One-Halycon Daze colt (Lot 2238). He is the 11th foal of the Rory’s Jester mare and directly related to seven winners including Cat Dazzle and also features Lady Mahal (second in the Listed Geraldine Stakes) in the family tree.
