WHEN the curtains rise on the 2008 National Weanling Sale sat the Gold Coast on May 27, Oaklands Stud will be a busy vendor.
Oakands Stud has consigned 57 fillies and colts to the Magic Millions-hosted sale which runs until May 30.
Its draft comprises offspring of proven stallions Iglesia, Red Ransom, Exceed And Excel and Pure Theatre.
Iglesia (Last Tycoon Ire-Yodells-Marscay) and Red Ransom (Roberto-Arabia) have proven Group 1 runners on the ground through Nova Star and All American, respectively.
Of the Oaklands Stud consignment, eight of the youngsters are by Iglesia, the fastest winner over 1200 metres in Australia’s turf history, include a colt half-brother to multiple winner Strawberry Malt (ex Royal Malt-Black Zephyr NZ).
Listed as Lot 562, the Iglesia-Royal Malt colt also traces to prolific winner Make Mine Magic and successful sire Vain Prince.
Another Iglesia of interest is Lot 457, a filly from Diamond Anchor, a close relative to dual Doomben 10,000 winner Chief de Beers.
The Oaklands Stud draft also includes the offspring of first time stallions Ferocity (Lion Hunter-Chiara-Last Tycoon Ire), Break The Vault (Redoute’s Choice-Lady Gisele-Nureyev USA), Tsuimai (Thunder Gulch-Triscay-Marscay), Rakti, Hidden Dragon and Domesday.
Lot 475 could appeal to many astute buyers, including the Gai Waterhouse stable. By Ferocity, the first and only son of Lion Hunter (Danehill USA-Pure Of Heart-Godswalk USA) at stud, the colt is from Fast Life (Marscay) and is a half-brother to Life Is Beautiful and Say Good Morning, which were outstanding performers for Waterhouse.
